'I'VE MISSED IT SO MUCH!' AMY DOWDEN VOWS TO RETURN TO STRICTLY AFTER BREAST CANCER BATTLE

The 33-year-old then underwent a mastectomy and lost her hair from her treatment as well as developing life-threatening sepsis; Nine months later, Amy was given the all-clear after doctors found 'no evidence of disease'.

Amy's main priority now is to lace up her dancing shoes once more. She told BBC Breakfast: 'I'm working really, really hard and getting my body back with rehab and physio. Got a brilliant team, so fingers crossed I'll be back on your screens dancing later this year.'

'If Strictly will have me back, I'll be back,' she vowed. 'The goal and the dream is to be back on the dancefloor, as well. 'Cause I've missed it so, so much.'

An elated Amy shared the happy news of being given the all-clear on social media in February, describing it as her best achievement to date with a picture of herself waving her arms triumphantly above her head.

'No evidence of disease, words I've dreamed of! My biggest accomplishment yet!' she gleefully announced.

Amy went on to explain that she still has a way to go before she can say that she has gotten the all-clear but this most recent update is an incredible first step.

The professional dancer added that she is eternally grateful for the level of care that she has received throughout her treatment.

Amy told fans: 'I won't be getting the all-clear for five years, especially with a hormone fed cancer. But it was all worth it. Words I never thought I'd hear at one point.'

The 33-year-old also gave a shout out to her husband and all those who have supported her, as she explained that she still needs to get monthly injections for the next five years.

The next step for Amy's recovery is to take some time out to recuperate from her chemo and let her body heal but she says her diagnosis has given her a new lease of life.

'I have so much to strive and live for, and so grateful for another chance of life! Something I know not all get. I certainly see life differently and my life has changed forever. '

She vowed to become an advocate for raising awareness of the importance of checking her breasts and signed off her heart warming message saying 'dance floor I'm coming for you.'

We can't wait to see you waltz your way back onto the dancefloor, Amy!
