'IT WAS BRILLIANT BECAUSE I COULDN'T HIDE' ANGELA SCANLON CREDITS STRICTLY AS 'THERAPY' FOR HER ANXIETY

Angela Scanlon quite literally danced her worries away, and we commend her for it!

The Irish presenter, who has been open and honest about her battle with anxiety and eating disorders in the past, competed on the 2023 series of Strictly Come Dancing.

Alongside her professional partner Carlos Gu, Angela found a strength inside her she didn't know existed and felt 'bulletproof' as she graced the dancefloor each week to take on a new challenge.

Speaking to The Times, Angela admitted Strictly acted 'like therapy,' noting that your mentality doesn't change 'until you actually teach yourself and your body that you can survive.'

The mum-of-two, who recently landed a new radio gig in the UK, revealed she felt 'mortally embarrassed' stepping out in front of the judges and the general public each week because naturally, everyone has an opinion on everything from her choreography to her routine to her outfit.

However, Angela found herself thinking: '"Oh, I'm actually grand,"' which she admitted was 'quite galvanising.' She added: 'It makes you feel bulletproof.'

'It was brilliant in so many ways because I couldn't hide,' the Irish presenter noted, adding that she'd previously 'never allowed' herself to be 'amateur at anything.'

It's safe to say the anxiety she felt taking to the dancefloor with a new routine each week definitely wasn't transparent, as she and Carlos nailed it each time.

In fact, Angela took things one step further and chose to rock her naturally radiant and pale skin rather than succumbing to the grueling ritual of fake tanning for her Strictly performances.

Sadly, Angela and Carlos didn't lift the coveted Glitterball trophy, but it's clear that the Irish presenter got something far more rewarding out of her Strictly experience.

It's only onwards and upwards from here, Angela!
