Yes, tooth nerve pain can be prevented by treating the dental cavities priorly, that means before damaging the tooth layers like enamel dentine and pulp. If dental cavity is filled timely without reaching it to dentine and pulp, it can be prevented. And timely follow up checkups or dental visits can also prevent tooth nerve pain. And sensitivity of the tooth can be reduced by using desensitivity tooth paste and using soft bristles tooth brush instead of hard bristles.

Develop a habit of regular warm saline rinse for at least twice a day, it will remove all the adhered bacteria or debris from the teeth and gums, preventing dental or nerve pain problems. Most common cause of tooth nerve pain could be untreated dental cavities. If the dental cavity is not treated priorly, it can progress into dentine and reach pulp, which might cause tooth nerve pain. And also other cause could be fracture of the tooth, if the fracture is involving enamel, dental and also pulp, where nerves and blood supply is there, then it might cause dental nerve pain.
