CONJOINED TWIN ABBY HENSEL GETS MARRIED

Back in 1990, Minnesota residents Patty and Mike Hensel made the agonising decision not to separate their conjoined twin girls after doctors determined that one of them would likely die.

The girls share a bloodstream and all the organs below the waist. Their condition is incredibly rare with some studies suggesting it only happens in one in 200,000 births, so it's fair to assume that Patty and Mike wondered how their girls would get on in life.

Happily though, it seems that 34 years on, Abby and Brittany have managed to live remarkably normal lives despite still being attached, with one of the sisters even getting married!.

Public records show that Abby Hensel married US Army vet and nurse Josh Bowling in 2021.

While not a huge amount is known about the couple, photos online show a beaming bride and groom on their big day, with Abby sister Brittany also thrilled at the wedding. One video from May 2023 has amassed 10 million viewers!

The sisters are pictured on the wedding day wearing an embellished A-line gown with an illusion neckline.

Abby and Brittany weren't always so private. They first came to public attention on the Oprah Winfrey show way back in 1996 and starred in their own reality show in 2012.

It followed the girls as they completed their final semester in college, graduation and their first few months out in the real world. In the show the girls travelled around Europe and secured their first job as teachers.

The girls also featured in a 2003 documentary called Joined for Life, where they talked openly about all the dreams they have and things they hope to achieve- including a desire to become mums one day.

These days, Abby and Brittany still live in Minnesota and work as fifth grade teachers.
