Sugar per se is not unhealthy, but the amounts we consume, in great excess, cause unhealthy habits and lead to addiction, obesity, diabetes, etc. Much of the granulated sugar is made of cane sugar that has been processed or sugar beets. Both have very similar composition and the only real difference might be if you can source sustainable sugar (be it white or cane), then that will have a better nutritional profile and is better for the environment too.
There is essentially no difference between cane and granulated sugar. Both sugar forms contain the same amount of sucrose, which is processed the same in the body and therefore if consumed in excess then both could lead to weight gain.
There is no difference between cane sugar and granulated sugar both are sugars and one and the same. Except for the sizes they can be a substitute for one another.
