A banana allergy is usually linked with latex allergy. This is due to the fact that, some of the proteins in the rubber trees which produce latex are known to result in allergies, and they are similar to the proteins found in some nuts and fruits. A syndrome called latex-food allergy. Children with nut allergies may react to consuming or touching raw bananas.
Symptoms are caused when the body's immune system overreacts to the allergens present in bananas. Bananas and other fruits also cause what is known as oral allergy syndrome, which in this case causes itching and discomfort mainly in the mouth and throat. Oral allergy syndrome is caused by the presence of proteins, similar to those found in pollen.
