HOW TO LOOK YOUNGER: J.LO AVOIDS THREE MAJOR THINGS FOR BEAUTIFUL SKIN - NO 'FACIAL LINES'

J.Lo is 53 years old but seems to defy the inevitable process of ageing. She spoke to Doctor Oz about her beauty secrets and how she stays looking young.

A-lister Jennifer Lopez undoubtedly has access to the best nutritionists, personal trainers and health practitioners in the world should she need them.

However, her key tips for looking good and feeling great are actually totally accessible to everyday people.

She started off by telling the expert her favourite entirely free beauty hack - drinking water.

"Lots of water. Believe it or not, it does help keep your weight down, it obviously keeps you hydrated. For me it just feels good," Jennifer stated.

Rather than sipping on coffee, tea or juice throughout the day, water is J.Lo's go to beverage.

She continued: "It's mostly what I drink all the time. I just drink it all day, it's the thing I drink."

This is something everyone can try at home for a slim figure and more vibrant, youthful skin.

Doctor Oz shared how we can know if we're getting enough H20: "Here's a rule of thumb.

"You want to be drinking enough water so that you could read through you're urine - you don't actually have to."

Doctor Oz then asked J.Lo some quick-fire questions about her lifestyle habits.

In these she revealed that she doesn't smoke or drink, both of which contribute to facial ageing.

As for sleep, the singer and actress revealed that she gets between seven and nine hours of sleep per night.

"I love 11, if I could ever get it - rarely - but I love it, and I'm usually up between 6-8am."

Speaking about her drinking habits, Jennifer explained: "I'm not a drinker, I just never started.

"It was one of those things where my mum just said, 'Don't drink, don't do drugs, you're gonna die'."

According to a study in The Journal of Clinical and Aesthetic Dermatology, drinking and smoking are incredibly ageing, but in different ways.

The study reads: "Smoking was associated with an increased severity of forehead, crow's feet, glabellar lines, under-eye puffiness, tear-trough hollowing, nasolabial folds, oral commissures, perioral lines and reduced lip fullness but not mid-face volume loss or visible blood vessels.

"Heavy alcohol use (eight or more drinks a week) was associated with increased upper facial lines, under-eye puffiness, oral commissures, mid-face volume loss, and blood vessels."

J.Lo also credited staying out of the sun for her youthful glow: "There was a time I didn't take sun at all, I think through my 20s and 30s, and it really saved my skin I think."

Reprogramming the brain to think positive thoughts as opposed to self-deprecating and negative thoughts also helps J.Lo maintain a healthy mind.

Using affirmations allows the star to start her day with the right mindset, presumably leading her to make good decisions throughout the day
